Creating online quiz by using Google Forms

최종 수정일: 2020년 4월 28일

This is the online quiz I have created by using google forms for the first time. It is not a professional quiz, but please enjoy reading it! and leave any comments about it.

The theme of the quiz was English speaking course level test.

Here are my questions for the quiz!

I have asked three different people who have different levels of English abilities to solve this quiz. The results were like this:

Hiju and Gijun are Advanced English speakers, meaning that they can speak and use English like natives. Heesung is an Intermediate English speaker. By looking at their results, I could see several problems Google Form has when making an online quiz.

Here is the reflection on this task I wrote:

It was very intriguing to create the quiz since it was my first experience creating a quiz by using an online tool. The most interesting part was that I have used google forms a lot of times to create surveys which has no specific answer to questions, but it was great to know that google forms can also be used as a quiz maker.

However, I have found several restrictions google form has. The major problem was that it does not have a flexible grading scale for short/long answers. For instance, for question number 2 from my quiz, I wrote "worried / home / time / bored / puzzle / complete / order / kill" as an answer, but google form marked the user's answer wrong if they don't write exactly same as mine. In another words, if the user did not put a space or slash in between words their answers would be counted as incorrect even if they got all the answers correct.

Another problem I encountered while using google form was that the question box's format is too simple for a complex problem. For example, for question 1 of my quiz, I wanted to put dialogue above the question within on question box, but it would not let me create another text box above the question. Thus, I had to create separate text box above the actual question and write question and options in another box right below. This was very inconvenient because due to the separation of boxes, it looks like different questions although it is one big question altogether.

Despite such restrictions, I still enjoyed creating quiz through google form, and thought this tool would be very suitable to create simple questions for ice-breaking time in class or fun quiz for outside school group activities. I am willing to use google form as a quiz making tool again in the future in such circumstances.

What do you guys think about using Google Forms for creating online quiz?

Changes made to my activity:

I have added more details to question #2 so that people can get their answers correct according to the grading system google docs has. Also I have added video to question #3 for more variety.

Here are my changes (the changes are highlighted):
